Their new summer attractions are likely to come to the mountain village, as the city has given approval for a temporary ropes course near Lift 4.
The course is part of an effort to Telluride Ski & Golf Company to bring more activity to the heart of the village, and is provided in place until August. The ropes course will be suspended above a small pool on a deep foot having many intended uses. Although the board gave unanimous approval during a conditional use permit Thursday that had some questions about your setup, security and location.
Council Member Cath Jett expressed concern about the proximity of the course to mountain bike trials in the area and the potential impacts to mountain bikers. Telski asked to consider alternative locations. However, Scott Butler with Gravity Play (the company that will install and operate the course) I told the Council that the proposed location was chosen because it is near the core of the village and the floor is level in that area.
“I’m not against [the course], I just want it to be as successful as possible," said Jett. “Having to close it because we have an unfortunate accident would not be good. But I think it would be great if you could look at [a place 50 meters away] to the future."
Jett finally gave motion to approve the permit as presented with the condition that the barriers semi - permanent got to separate the public from the customers safety ropes course.
According to city documents, the course will be about 20 feet wide and high and 40 feet long. Although an exact location near Lift 4 has not been decided in the course will open just before the Telluride Bluegrass Festival in mid-June and will run daily from 10 to 6 pm until 15 August.
The attraction features the use of harnesses to navigate many obstacles. The pool below involves plastic balls that people can use to enter and walk on water. To use the course will cost around $ 15 per person.
Telski is providing a location and attraction marketing and according to a press release, everything will be linked to a new Adventure Center of the town, which is also located near the base of head 4.
According Telski, one of his goals is to increase business in the heart of the village. The company is playing with many different ideas to try to bring people to Mountain Village and make sure they have a good time in summer and winter.
